jtigermoon and I will be exchanging dishes (filled with food, of course) each Sunday at our Feri meetings. We both live alone, and had gotten into bad dinner habits at the end of our busy days. My own tendencies were to just grill a piece of meat on the George Forman, maybe eat a little salad or piece of fruit, and then later, hungry again, devour a huge bowl of popcorn. Or ice cream. Or . . . well, you get the idea.
I have fixed chicken cacciatore, and am substituting spaghetti squash for the usual bed of pasta. My initial meal of it was accompanied by a salad, and a glass of 2005 Hayman & Hill Merlot. Very tasty, on sale, and ranked 91 by Wine Spectator. It's the best wine I've had in months. Or perhaps it is the taste of culinary accomplishment that made it so good.
Tomorrow, I exchange half the recipe for . . . a surprise!
We are very excited.
